Paint.net is awesome. Tabbed document handling is awesome too.

I'm not too sure about the new interface appearance though, it seems a little over the top. The grey background is a bit too distracting, I preferred the v2 style.

However, I think this version loads a little faster.

Version 3 loads a ton faster and is the main reason I love it. I think it opens as fast as the classic Paint does! Time to write an article on this one...thanks for pointing it out Javasharp!

QuickTime Alternative

QuickTime Alternative will allow you to play QuickTime files without having to install the official QuickTime Player.All QuickTime formats (.mov .qt .3gp etc.) are supported, including streaming content and QuickTime content that is embedded in webpages.

Some advantages compared to QuickTime player:

    * Quick and easy install
    * It's easy to make an unattended installation
    * No background processes
    * Use a player of your own choice
    * Low on resources
    * Smaller size

Love Quicktime Alternative. It just got an update to 1.77 too which includes the latest security fix for Quicktime from Apple.

One of the things I always hated about QuickTime was the System Tray icon that it installed after you completed the installation...I know you can disable but I don't think that should be necessary. Does this do the same thing or is free of a tray icon?

The Quicktime tray icon is the most pointless thing I have ever seen! Does realplayer still install a program that runs at startup? That irritates me too. Codecs don't need to be running all the time!!!
