This topic serves two purposes.

1) What features do you want to see in Firefox 3? (This can include incorporated extensions/extension parts, UI redesign, a new theme, etc.)

2) Is it just me, or are you waiting for some of these new features to appear in the Alpha builds already?  That's the fun in Alpha testing, right?  It somewhat defeats the purpose for many people if there are no new features.  Besides, I'm worried that they might not make their November deadline because the new features did not get enough testing.

Wow what a topic.  If there were one extension I would like to see implemented as a standard feature that would be Ad Block, of course many web developers who depend on the ads a source of $$ would probably cry foul over that..oh well.

Yes, I Mozilla would never implement Ad Block, as that would be altering the web page's content, and Mozilla is openly against such things.  It would also make many web designers very angry.

I think it is unrealistic to see Ad Block in Firefox because that is, after all, how Mozilla makes their money. People perform searches in the search bar and then when they click on an ad on the resulting Google search page Mozilla brings in a large portion of that revenue.

I think they really need to add more customization features for the tabs because that's why a lot of people use Firefox. They should have options to lock tabs, for example, so that they cannot be closed and such.

One other thing that I have been wanting to see is an easier way to customize toolbars. I should be able to place toolbars wherever I want, whether it be on the side of the screen or on the bottom. The same goes for the tab bar. I know that you can move individual buttons from one toolbar to another but I should be able to drag one toolbar next to another, much like how you can in Microsoft Office.

Yea agreed will never really see Adblock built in.

Features I'd like to see, not many because I'm all for keeping it lite and leaving almost everything to extensions, but I'd like to see a better download manager, the included one now is extremely basic and doesn't even show much file info.

Also, I'd like to move the toolbars and buttons without having to go through the unneccessary step of View>Toolbars>Customize.

Ahh! Good call xpgeek! Every time I use the download manager I always think about how much better it could be. I don't even really consider it a "manager", instead it is more of a "list" that you can add and delete rows from.

DownThemAll should be integrated...IMMEDIATELY.

As for AdBlock, personally I hate it. With a passion. I think people make webpages for a reason, they make them to the best of there ability and with an agenda. I think the pages should be seen that way!

So far, my personal list of extensions I want incorporated includes:

• URL Fixer

• Restarter

• SearchLoad Options

• DownThemAll (Parts Of)

I'm generally a minimalist when it comes to such things, but these features are so obvious and commonly used that it only makes sense to incorporate them.

Im not sure about searchload options. It is nice to be able to twek things, but they shouldnt become too feature heavy.

If things like downthemall are added, I think there should be a way to turn off most of the options, for people that arent so confident with tweaking things to death

Oh yeah, forgot about Restarter as well. I heard that feature was supposed to be incorporated into Firefox 2 but they plain old forgot. I would expect to see this in Firefox 3 then because it is surely a necessary feature.

Parts of it where there. Was the restart button on the "Extension installed" window always there?

Firefox 3 Alpha 3 was supposed to be released yesterday.  I know that we should never assume that Mozilla meets their deadlines, but they didn't even mention  a postponed release date in yesterday's Status Meeting.  Does anyone have any idea when they might release this milestone?  Does anybody know what, if any, new features it will have other than rendering engine related enhancements?
