Do you use a mouse pad? And what kind?

For a long time I haven't used one at all, having a laser mouse with almost perfect tracking no matter the surface. But lately my control been going to crap as the wooden surface of my desk has lots of little holes n chips in it n the control goes whacky when the laser hits one.

Couple weeks ago I picked up this micro-fiber mouse pad in Staples, as it said cool things like worlds best mousing surface and cleans mouse as you use it, all over the package. Its a good idea and all, but it feels like trying to use a mouse on a washcloth, its extremely slow and sluggish movement on it.

So today I just got this in the mail, the Razer Mantis mousepad, I got the one made for Control, and is why I'm making this post just to say, if you don't have one of these, get one! Its freakin huge first of all, like 4 or 5 times the size of a normal mousepad, running the mouse off the side of a pad will never be a problem again, but the feeling of extremely precise control while using it is amazing! If feels like I just got a brand new mouse, it is EXTREMELY precise and smooth easy motion on it. Don't know how I ever went without one of these, worth every penny.

I use a regular Staples mousepad with my PC. It's just a habit and I never really thought about getting rid of it.

I have not used a mousepad ever since getting my first laser mouse.  To me, I just do not think that there is a reason to have one, as the precision never seemed any different.  I tested with my then current pad and without a few times and did not notice any difference.

Do you really see a big difference?  Are you an online gamer that needs super precision?  What mouse do you currently use?  To spend $25.00 for something I currently do not feel would make a difference sight unseen or untested is too much to me.

I'm an occasional online gamer, but have never noticed the difference really with those high end gaming mice with adjustable precision settings, I just have a Logitech MX400 Performance Laser Mouse, my control has always been very very good and precise, just it kinda hiccups when the laser hits a little hole or scrape in the wood of my desk, which is why I've decided to go back to a pad. I always figured these Razer mousepads were overhyped, besides being bigger it probly doesn't make much of a difference at all from a normal cheap mousepad, but it does, its just soooo smooth movement over it and it just feels twice as precise now, the feeling of control on it is just amazing.

I don't use a mousepad with my laser mouse either, but that Razer Mantis looks uber sweet since it is extra large! I may have to look into that.

I use them just for the padding and comfort. The edge of my desk will leave you marked.

I use a Dynex laser mouse with a mousepad for that reason...
Mine also has those cool back and forward buttons on the sides that work with internet explorer and firefox (haven't tried it with opera).

Yes, I use a mouse pad with a gel wrist pad. Like some of you, my desk would leave me with a nice mark!
