I think we can also add CutePDF Writer in the list. Is there any better free pdf writers available?

In our tests, we found downloads on this site that some people consider adware, spyware, or other unwanted programs.
Download                                                                   Analysis

CutePDF Writer Companion 2.6 (CuteComp.exe) - Adware-WhenU,Adware-Url
CutePDF Writer Companion 2.6 (CuteComp.exe) - Adware-WhenU,Adware-Url
CutePDF Writer Companion 2.61 (CuteComp.exe) - Adware-WhenU,Adware-Url
CutePDF Writer Companion 2.61 (CuteComp.exe) - Adware-WhenU,Adware-Url

I will add the other ones but i dont see the need to add programs which includes spyware/adware

Interesting...I never knew CutePDF had spyware with it. I agree that programs with spyware should remain of of the list.

I use Foxit, its faster than Adobe's Reader. However, Reader 8 or 7 or whatever it is, that looks pretty swish

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I've been using it for almost four years. It's very popular, I think.

What people don't realize is that everything their security software says is not always wrong. All three of the "adware" reviews mention that Avast or some other software droped the download. I have used this free software for years, and never had a problem.

Your all getting confused here. FlashGet is a safe program, the majority of 'Big Hit' Anti-Viruses don't like Downloaders and get mixed up between Trojan Downloaders and the actual real Downloader.

I've been using FlashGet for atleast a year and I've never had one pop-up nor any signs of Spyware.

Safe website, safe program.

So it seems they have removed the adware out of the program after them downloads were tested

Huh, I had never used FlashGet but I didn't think that it had spyware. Looking through a lot of other forums turned up that it contains Cydoor (which is spyware) but it goes undetected by Ad-Aware? Other programs like Spybot and Windows Defender supposedly catch it.

Zoom Player WMV Professional 5.00 Final

Zoom Player is a robust media and DVD front-end player. It was designed to be simple at first glance while being remarkably dynamic and flexible when used to its full potential. It works in two modes: a Media mode which can play any file supported by DirectShow (any file which plays in MediaPlayer) and a DVD mode which uses pre-installed DirectShow DVD filters to play DVD content. It supersedes media player in all it's functions and provides several important functions that media player lacks. It provides special zooming functions to improve TV-output quality by eliminating overscan.

hitman-pro

"it combines Ad-Aware SE, SpyBot Search & Destroy, Spy Sweeper, Spyware Doctor, CWShredder, Spyware Blaster, NOD32, Sysclean package. Most of the included programs are freeware. Some of these programs are limited trial editions of commercial programs, and the user can decide to switch these off after the trial period."

bit-tyrant

"BitTyrant is a new, protocol compatible BitTorrent client that is optimized for fast download performance. BitTyrant is...

    * Fast ? During evaluation testing on more than 100 real BitTorrent swarms, BitTyrant provided an average 70% download performance increase when compared to the existing Azureus 2.5 implementation, with some downloads finishing more than three times as quickly.
    * Fair ? BitTorrent was designed with incentives in mind: if a user is downloading at 30 KBps, they should upload at 30 KBps. However, due to the unique workload properties of many real-world swarms, this is not always enforced. BitTyrant is designed to make efficient use of your scarce upload bandwidth, rewarding those users whose upload allocations are fair and only allocating excess capacity to other users.
    * Familiar ? BitTyrant is based on modifications to Azureus 2.5, currently the most popular BitTorrent client. All of our changes are under the hood. You?ll find the GUI identical to Azureus, with optional additions to display statistics relevant to BitTyrant?s operation.

For details about these claims, check out the information below. "

poweroff

"Poweroff is a small program that allows you to control the power state of your pc.

It can power off, shutdown or reboot your pc, log you off, lock your workstation, go to standby or hibernation mode and even wake up another pc.

All actions can be done locally or on a remote pc (if they are running poweroff).

The action can be performed immediately or scheduled, by using a built-in scheduler."
