I use the Lightning extension on Thunderbird...It's OK...It's no Google Calendar, but it gets the job done.

I have the extension as well, but I still find myself using the Yahoo Calendar to keep track of things at home.  At work I am stuck with the calendar in Outhouse...err...Outlook.

Sage is a lightweight RSS and Atom feed reader extension for Mozilla Firefox. It's got a lot of what you need and not much of what you don't.

I've tried Sage before and it is really nice, the only thing is that they don't update it very frequently. It's been a long time since it has gotten some new features, but I guess they aren't trying to make a full desktop feed reader since other applications already do that.

Yep, Chris hit it head on! Portableapps.com and PortableFreeware.com are the two sites I use for portable software. If it isn't on one of those two then it probably isn't portable. :)

Here is some freeware apps to help you customize your desktop and keep it organized.

ObjectDock is a program that enables users to organize their programs and running tasks into a dock. ObjectDock enables users to have more control over how they organize their desktop. Rather than have a bunch of icons on the desktop, these icons can be put into docks. ObjectDock can also be used to replace the Start bar entirely freeing up valuable screen real-estate.

CursorXP users can create and use cursors that look and feel far superior to anything you've ever seen before! Best of all, it's really easy to create your own super-charged cursors! It integrates into the standard Mouse interface of Windows and is easy to turn on and off as you need.

I actually bought the ObjectDock Plus awhile ago and use it everyday.

This was before I knew of RocketDock.

I've yet to use RocketDock...can anyone tell me if they like it better than ObjectDock?

It's been awhile since I have used ObjectDock so it would be hard for me to make an accurate comparison. There is, however, a new update coming out for ObjectDock soon that does indeed look pretty sweet:

I can vouch for EverNote...it's the best desktop-based notes program I've ever used.  O0
