Jaiku is a similar service to Twitter, and is supposed to have some nicer features. I haven't tried it myself yet because I just jumped on the Twitter bandwagon, but I've seen a lot of people talking about it.
I update my Jaiku via MSN using IMified: http://www.imified.com/
IMified brings the web to your instant messenger. It lets you access certain web services without you having to start your browser. They also have a Jaiku+Twitter plugin that will update both services in one swoop. Therefore you can use both Jaiku and Twitter at the same time!

Okay, I jumped on the Twitter bandwagon... now I just have to start using it :) And I got on Pownce too... but I haven't really played around with that one either.

@OMD: I can't believe you didn't know what Facebook was yet :) I use it, probably a little too much. It's like an addiction in a way - I have to check it at least once, usually multiple times throughout the day. I'm getting better though and not checking so often.

In my opinion, Facebook is the finest social network around.

Yesterday, I cancelled my MySpace account. Facebook all the way.

Hey, I am not on top of everything.  I figured it was some type of social networking thing, which I have not gotten into.

Personally, I prefer Jaiku's interface over Pownce's interface. Maybe you should check that out too. :)

Don't click this link then: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook
C'mon! I challenge you not to click the link. :D

That's the power of the internet: you can insult people without risking to get kicked in the *bleep*. ;)

There will eventually be a service you can order to do that. Just wait...it will be as common as ordering flowers. :)

I briefly checked out Jaiku (didn't signup for an account, just looked around) and it is pretty nice. It's a shame that services like these are better than Twitter but have a hard time taking the marketshare away from Twitter.

You can actually put your Twitter feed in Jaiku and display it on your profile page, did you know that? New items will appear as if they were posted from Jaiku. This trick also works for Last.fm played tracks and just about any RSS feed.

I had actually heard about that, and I've actually seen guides that let you post to Pownce, Jaiku, and Twitter all at the same time using that technique.
