Twitter or Jaiku?
« on: July 06, 2007, 12:56:30 AM »
I voted for Jaiku, because Twitter's interface is ugly. Twitter on the other hand has the largest social network, but even with that in mind I still prefer Jaiku.

You know, I have never used Twitter and I only heard about Jaiku because I saw a link to Chris's Jaiku page here in his forum signature.

I've actually stopped using Jaiku (which is better in my opinion) and switched over to Twitter...mainly because everybody and their mother uses Twitter.

I use Twitter as a mini-blog...I just write tech thoughts that cross my mind....I don't see a point in telling people that I'm brushing my teeth and stuff like that. :)

If anyone here uses Twitter and wants to add me as a friend, feel free: http://www.twitter.com/chrisrossini

I like how Jaiku can integrate RSS feeds related to what you do in your profile. For example: everything I play on my iPod is reported to Last.fm and then Jaiku fetches the Last.fm feed to display the songs/podcasts I played on my profile page. Same thing with my Blue Dot bookmarks (these things in my signature).

Yeah, Jaiku is way ahead in just about every department.

But, because Twitter was the first mover in this space, they got the lion's share in terms of users. And once people get their network built up, switching to something else becomes a pain....even if it's better!

All Twitter has to do at this point is implement the features that Jaiku and Pownce have created...I'm actually kinda surprised that they haven't done so yet.

Let's look at this from their perspective: "Why bother? We have a monopoly on that market..."
It's as simple as that. :)

I see your point, but it's not like eight-year-olds are visiting this forum.

Some people don't care about swearing, and I'm actually one of those people, but others can be offended by it. So I thought I would just make a quick fix and bypass any complaints that could possibly arise.

Oh, and Ashley edit's my posts sometimes when I make stupid grammatical mistakes. :)

Oh, I make stupid mistakes plenty of times myself. It's just easier to fix Ryan's than to tell him and have him go back and fix it :)

I'd be impressed if an eight year old was visiting this forum! ;) We don't censor often, hardly ever... we just prefer a site clean from F-bombs.

Back on to the subject... I have actually never used either Twitter or Jaiku. I do update my status on Facebook... does that count?
