Firefox causes boot problem
« on: June 18, 2007, 12:02:23 PM »
Here is a problem I havn't seen talked about.  I am running Vista premium with a 2.13 ghz processor and 2 gb of ram on a Gateway.  When I install Firefox the machine wont boot until I back up to a restore point.  I have tried downloading the latest FF from  two locations with the same result.  But wait, there's more . . .

I downloaded flock (so I could do batch pix uploads to phostobucket) and installed it with the same results as with FF. I believe flock maybe based ond the FF platform.

Since I much prefer FF to IE, a solution would be most welcome!

Have you changed the setting to allow FF to run as administrator? I don't think that would cause a boot problem, but that is the first step I would check.

Sorry, you need to right click on the executable and you will see the box that needs to be checked in order to run as administrator.

That sounds like a serious problem, and it is weird that Firefox is preventing the computer from booting up. I have both Flock and Firefox installed in Vista without any issues.

One thing you may consider is using Firefox Portable: http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable

That way you don't have to install it.

Good to see he posted over here, since he sent me this question via the Contact Us link on my blog.  Since I have no experience with Vista, i figured someone should be able to help him out here.
