« on: May 12, 2007, 06:36:50 PM »
do you any websites where I can upload the music from my PC and listen to it anywhere I am? of course, to be free and, if possible, to listen the music directly from the internet, without downloading.
thanks

I personally am not sure if this exists, however, it would be great if it does.  The only issue I see would be legality of the music you upload.

It may be possible to use some type of file upload and sharing service if they include any type of media player.

Some of the file storage sites that were discussed in the CyberNet Blog allow you to upload your files and access them anywhere.  Some will allow you to view your pictures and even play your music as well.

You can use Orb to stream music from one computer to nearly any device that has an internet connection. This is a great service and best of all it is free!

The first thing that came to my mind was Orb, but you can also stream music from DivShare.

Here's what you need: http://www.tunefeed.com/

You can also use it to stream music on your website.

DivShare is nice as Chris mentioned because you can make your files private. By doing that it would be a lot less likely that your account is banned for uploading the music, since you're not really trying to share it. I'm still not sure if it is legal or not though.

I think that Winamp can be configured to stream your music across the internet as well. I have never configured this myself, however I am sure it is possible.

I have not used Winamp in ages, back when it was the only real mp3 player to have.  Is it still a great little player, or has it gotten bloated like everything else?

I used it up to about a year ago, and at that time it wasn't really bloated. Most of the extras are all offered through plug-ins which, much like Firefox, keep the main application pretty light.

Once Windows Media Player 11 hit I really liked it and have stuck with it, not to mention that it WMP11 integrates with my online XM radio.

I had moved to MusicMatch Jukebox and still have lifetime upgrades, however, they made it so bloated and slow!  Once WMP11 came out, I have been using it exclusively as well.

Yeah, the new interface in WMP11 is a drastic change, and expecially looks nice in Vista. I give Microsoft credit for making it look good, and also simple.
