Gender Genie

I found this cool website that determines whether the writer of a block of text is male or female. I tried with one of Ashley's blog posts and then one of Ryan's blog posts and it correctly determined that the first was written by a female and the latter by a male! So cool!! :)

That is absolutely insane! I couldn't really fool the thing until I actually tried to understand how it was working. It is almost scary to think that they can figure out the gender of a person just by checking for certain words/patterns. Makes you wonder what the government can do with a block of text?

They can probably write things as if you wrote it. Scary...

I just tested the Gender Genie with the article that I wrote for CyberNet. It turns out that I'm female... :D

Quote
Words: 1438
(NOTE: The genie works best on texts of more than 500 words.)

Female Score: 3095
Male Score: 1465

The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: female!

I guess that's good news that a computer can't tell a gender purely from the writing...maybe I'll be able to sleep tonight. :)
