Stikkit
« on: December 02, 2006, 11:11:41 PM »
For awhile now, I've been waiting for the ability to add tags to my notes in Google Notebook. Well, today I saw this video about Stikkit, a Web 2.0 notetaking site. If you check out the video, you'll see that it's really pretty cool.

I was sold, so I moved my notes over; and I'm very happy with it so far.

Does anyone else think Google Notebook is in need of a make-over? If they ever add tags, I know I'll surely be back.

I've never heard of Stikkit before but I think it is so amazing that I may just have to write about it. I would say that I am satisfied with Google Notebook because I create different "notebooks" which serves the purpose of tagging for me.

I just signed up for Stikkit and it would be cool if they offered some sort of extension for the browser but the bookmarklet isn't too bad.

Stikkit does have a lot to offer but I'm not sure if I would use a lot of it, like the Calendar. One thing that I haven't figured out is a way to see my existing tags when I am creating a new note. For instance, I don't want to tag one thing as "meeting" and another as "meetings". A nice listing or drop-down menu would prevent unnecessary redundancy.

There are elements of Stikkit that I wouldn't use as well, like the calendar, and contacts. What drew me in was the ability to add mulitple tags to a note and the tag cloud.

I think tag clouds are big...and while I'm on the topic, I think Google Bookmarks can use a tag cloud as well...my tag list is extremely long and I have to scroll forever to look for something. I stay with del.icio.us for this reason.

I think both Google Notebook and Google Bookmarks will have tag clouds someday...just when? ???

Now that I start to think about it Google hasn't done anything with tag clouds...have they? It's almost like they are trying to move towards Web 2.0 services but they want to stay away from the typical things that other services offer.

I don't use Del.icio.us because I like to keep my bookmarks private. Not only that but the GMarks Firefox extension is simply amazing and I couldn't imagine managing my bookmarks any other way.

You can make your bookmarks in del.icio.us private. It's a relatively new feature.

And if you import into del.icio.us, I believe your bookmarks are automatically private by default.

Ahhh, I didn't realize you could do that. I just went looking through the options and notice that you have to enable a setting in order to see the "Do Not Share" checkbox on your bookmarks. Thanks for pointing that out guys.
