I did pick a proxy that was from the USA. I heard that they also check your timezone, so I had to change that, but I didn't work.

Man, that really bugs me now what they are using to verify your location. Timezone was pretty clever and I would have never thought about that, but now I am really stumped. It's almost like their tracking you. :)

What about browser?  Does IE have regional builds like Firefox does?

You bring up an interesting point. If I remember correctly, I also tried accessing the site with the English version of IE6 on Linux (there's some kind of wrapper program that will allow you to do that). I could be wrong of course.

COuld the ISP push some kind of geolocational data with the individual data packets?

I'm sure IE does have regional settings depending on what language of Windows a user installs. And that is a statistic available, but then that makes me wonder whether they could use that. It would essentially discriminate against people in the United States who are using an operating system of a different language...which would be pretty stupid.

That sounds a little underhanded, but I guess an ISP could do that.

Its not really underhanded. Not if the location is that of the ISP, not the user.
