I was wondering when someone was going to catch that.  For some odd reason they have Flash disabled, which doesn't help since some of the step-by-step tutorials are in Flash.

Ahhhh! That makes much more sense now. I'm surprised that they would disable Flash.

They shouldn't but they are in the process of updating all the machines to IE7 and I think they chose the highest security setting.  I have no idea what I will have when I get to Gilbert next Sunday.  I don't even know where I will be in the center. At least I do know who my manager is.

I use Google Docs. I RARELY use any features outside of bolding and underlining when using word processors....not to mention I like being able to access the files wherever I go...though for whatever reason, my school blocks Google docs (but not Google Notebook.....)

If  I ever do use a desktop application for word processing, it's usually just the built in Notepad. That has enough features for me  ;D.

I'm surprised your school blocks Google Docs...it's not like it is a MySpace or anything. It is a simple Word Processor.

On my laptop, I use Portable AbiWord because it's a small package. I know OpenOffice is better but that package is a huge size...

Why not go for the portable version? I think it's only about 60Megs and you can run it from a USB stick if you like.

I myself have found AbiWord to be quite capable and in many instances more compatible with Microsoft Office in DOC file input/output.  That's not to say that Open Office Writer is not good, but that the documents I have tried it with just did not look right in Office 2003, but were fine when exported from AbiWord.

I also find I like the online office suites including Google, but also to include Zoho, ajax13, and ThinkFree.  I only wish they supported more formats for import and export.  If they supported a few more formats like WPD (Word Perfect Document) they would be even better.

The online office suites should definitely look into expanding their file format support. At least on the importing side of things. Heck, most of them can't even handle the new Office 2007 file formats.
