No kidding, you think "maybe a little extra RAM" and then "I'll bump up the video card", then when you view the cart at the end you're like "guess I can't afford that" :)

Also, now that I have some contacts at Microsoft I am going to see if I can get a copy or two of Vista Ultimate for the consumer launch to give away on the site.
That's exactly how it goes, and the video card is one of the more expensive upgrades.  I do not want a standard wimpy one.

That would be cool if you can score a copy or two to give away here.  I am sure that my luck is over seeing as I scored the $100.00 Amazon Gift Certificate.  BTW...The remote is cool.  I just need to dive a little deeper and find out how to do some tweaking programming with it.

I think that most people won't "plan" an upgrade and it will instead just happen for them when they purchase a new PC.

That is what I am thinking. Most have to upgrade their PC before they can upgrade their OS.

That is how I finally ended up with XP back in 2003.

I will end up doing a computer upgrade this year with a new case, quieter power supply, a high end DirectX 10 video card.  I will probably throw in a new motherboard as well.

I have been moving away from desktop computers and more to laptops since I am always on the go. Unfortunately my laptop doesn't support the Aero glass so I'll be upgrading my laptop later this year. I'm looking at getting an Alienware this time because of their great graphics capabilities.

I plan to purchase a laptop, but I do not know when I will.  I hope to get it by the end of the year.
