What happens when you let Japanese people create an MMORPG?
« on: January 19, 2007, 09:53:27 AM »
It becomes something like MapleStory! Fight snails, mushrooms and other strange creatures to become stronger. The game's free to play; it's a 400MB download.

Website: http://www.mapleglobal.com/
For some strange reason, they require you to use IE to visit this site.

Sounds pretty interesting...is it a game that you play level by level and can eventually beat or something that goes on forever if you want it to?

There are three big islands and no matter what your level is, you can go wherever you like.

As your level raises, you will be able to go deeper into caves and other dark places to defeat stronger monsters. Newbies can try that too, but they could die easily.

I don't have much time for playing games, but when I have it, I'm playing "World of Warcraft". It is the best modern MMORPG available, and I have no time (or wish) to try others, because this one is definitely the best.

I have never played WoW and will probably never try it. In my opinion, these things should be free. :)

I second that all the away.  The download was little bit of a pain since I had to free up some space and it was a bit long even on a high speed connection.  But it's worth it, given it is free to download and to play.  Thanks for the tip.

I've never played WoW either, and I know too many people who are overly addicted...so I probably won't be trying it. :D

Most of these people are Japanese. That explains everything... ;)

I've been playing maplestory for 3 months now. (Lv22 bowmen, Lv22 Thief, Wanna add eachoter Pieter De Decker? (VietRyden IGN)
Anywho, I'm playing it on a 56k connection and it works fine. (On vista) It's quite a fun game, and not scary like the other MMORPGs. Although it's around 800mb now...

I'm really Southern Cross...just don't have time to log in.  B#

I have a friend that was absolutely addicted to MapleStory for a while. But its not totally free, well it is, but you wind up reallyy wanting to buy some special items for the game that cost real money.

Tales of Pirates gets that way too.
