You should also be able to create a new profile. adding the arguement -P will open firefox with the profile manager, which would let you create new profiles and select different ones. you should able to automatically use a certain profile with the arguement -P profilename, something like that anyway.
last time imessed with my firefox profile i killed it totaly =( so ill stay away for abit ....

At this point...not really anything is new in Firefox 3. Right now they are just preparing to merge different "versions" together and at that point it will be acid 2 compliant.

Firefox 3 will also have the "Places" that was removed from Firefox 2 but they also had to pull it in Firefox 3 because they had some conflicts with the new theme. It will eventually make its way back in though.

Yea, I was just saying that would be an alternative to using a portable version.

I think Mozilla Links sums it up well..

Firefox 3 Alpha 1 is also in Release Candidate status and expected in the next 2-3 weeks. It won?t feature any of the improvements expected for Firefox 3 like Places, the integrated bookmarks and history management interface, the Cairo graphics engine, not to mention anything from the long brainstorming list. It is mainly a renamed trunk (Firefox?s main development code) build.

Firefox 3 alpha 1 is already onto release candidate 3 but there aren't any new features that you can visually see, well, you know what I mean.  ^-^

I'm sure it will be released around the same time they are releasing their other milestones: December 14. I have actually had to move away from using Firefox 3 as my primary browser because too many things were being broken by checkins that people were making. I use it from time to time but I'm back to Firefox 2 for a few weeks until they get some of the more annoying bugs ironed out.

I had brought it up for a bit to update to the latest nightly and tried to access the forums and it crashed.  I have that problem with Netscape over on DelphiForums, certain ads will cause it to crash as well.

Anyone know the userChrome code to remove this button in 3.0 Alpha 1 ?

.tabs-alltabs-stack { display: none !important; } that worked for it in 2.0 is not doing it anymore in 3.0.

They must have changed the name but I don't know what they would have changed it to.

There seems to be some other name changes as well.  There was something else, I am thinking the throbber that the tweak in FF2 to remove it won't work in FF3.

Per Percy Cabello at Mozilla Links: Planned features for Firefox 3...
Quote
In today?s Firefox 3 (code name Gran Paradiso) meeting, developers released a preliminary list of requirements for Firefox 3. The new target release date is sometime in the third quarter this year.

See Firefox Feature Plan for the complete list.

The list is quite extensive but it also includes several "Nice to have features" such as "Allow add-ons to be installed without rebooting Firefox." However, one noteworthy item in the "Nice to Have" list was "Unified bookmarks/history" which Percy added the comment "Does this mean no Places?" ???
