Looking for freeware
« on: November 10, 2008, 11:49:42 AM »
Anyone know of a freeware Windows System Tray Management software?  Mines overcrowded and would like to some easy management system, even if it means that the tray folds all the way back to realease some more of the taskbar.

I've got some good news: Windows already has the feature you're looking for. Right-click an empty spot on the taskbar, select Properties and then hit the "Customize..." button. :)

From what it sounds like the tip Pieter mentioned should be what you're looking for. Windows 7 (when it's released late next year) will have even better customization for the System Tray icons as well.

Hi Ryan did find this http://www.mlin.net/other.shtml  Tray saver is at the bottom of the page.  Its a bit buggy, but it works on WinXP (which is most probably why as it does not mention it works for that OS).  It will do for now.  Its a good idea that never seemed to have lifted off and continued.  A shame really.

That does sound pretty cool, but the System Tray already has the functionality to hide unwanted icons. So this really isn't all that necessary.
