« on: August 29, 2008, 12:16:49 PM »
1. Can anyone tell me where to use these video formats : .avi,.wmv,.asf,.mp4,.mov,.flv,.mpg,.dat, .vob .

2. In which format we can watch movies in high quality ?

3. Which is the best video format (better size and quality)?

4. Why FLV is becoming popular now-a-days ?

5. Which is the best format to compress DVD files ?

Please I need your help !

1. Are you talking about how to play those formats? I would suggest VLC or GOM for that.

2. The original format is really the best quality you can get. All others have to use some sort of compression, but I'd say AVI/DivX is probably the best.

3. Probably AVI/DivX

4. Because FLV videos are normally highly compressed and easily shared across the web.

5. Probably AVI/DivX

Those are video formats so you "use" them as video files. I think that answers you question?  :-\

I think the question is more in what situation should you use one format over another...

FLV is used for high compression.
.VOB is used for creating high quality DVD's .
.DAT is used for creating VCD's .

Then what is the use of  - avi,.wmv,.asf,.mp4,.mov,mpg ?

I think h.264 as an .mov is the best quality in terms of how good it looks vs file size
