Fx 3 Causes Hard Drive to run non-stop
« on: August 26, 2008, 05:16:34 PM »
My folks upgraded to Firefox 3 this afternoon via the major update and both say that their hard drives are being accessed non-stop. I had them reboot, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I have my Firefox 3 installed on one my secondary external drives that is behind me. Even so, I have so much crap going in the background that having the hard drives being access non-stop is not unusual for me. Anyone got any ideas?  I looked on mozillaZine but didn't see anything related to this issue. Further, I did a manual install of Firefox 3, plus I am using the nightly builds as well: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.2pre) Gecko/2008082505 Firefox/3.0 ID:2008082505

Sounds weird. I assume that if they close Firefox their hard drive stops getting accessed so frequently?

I did a clean install as well, and have never recommended that people upgrade. Things just never seem to go smoothly.
