Have tried two distros on my machine, but the installs failed.
Fedora said it needed a driver, but it wasn't clear for what?
Thoughts?

I have tried Fedora a couple of times, but I didn't like it. As Richard said, you're probably better off with Ubuntu. If you'd like to stick with Fedora, you might want to check out

as they're more likely to be able to solve your problem.

What was the other distribution that you tried other than Fedora? Also, what model Dell Inspiron are you using?
