The Product Being Uninstalled Is Not Really Installed
« on: August 13, 2008, 04:35:40 AM »
WTF?  B|

The reason I was trying to uninstall the Zone Alarm Force Field was because when I activated it, I got (I believe my first on Vista) a BLUE SCREEN of DEATH!  >:D

I do have to admit that the error message was rather amusing. It's almost like they should have ended it with "are you stupid or something?"  ???

Have you taken a look to see if it actually copied any files over to your computer? If you got a BSoD I'm sure it did, but it could have just come during the pre-install process.

I looked at there is the folder CheckPoint containing the subfolder ZAForceField. When I try to run the uninstaller in that folder I also get the same error message.

Booted up this morning and as soon as I got into Windows, Blue Screen of Death! So I was able to start up in Safe Mode and manually remove the Zone Alarm Force Field as well as disable the auto-startup via MSCONFIG. Thankfully I know my way around Windows fairly well and knew what the offending piece of software was so I could get back to running my normal Windows.

You can also use Windows Defender, which comes with Vista, to disable or permanently remove startup entries. I can't believe the app is causing so many problems for you.

Not any more, after I forcibly remove it from my system. What was weird about this BSoD was it didn't stay visible for long before the machine rebooted. I caught something about a memory dump and the machine went thru the reboot process.
