They're afraid that in the future broadcast networks won't be willing to pay as much for the rights to broadcast the Oscars.  Also, I like how the theaters say they need to charge so much for the crap they sell.  I doubt that the theaters would go out of business if they did not charge as much for concessions, but at least they could serve better quality food.

They ever think that if may be they lowered the prices on the concessions that they might make more money as more people would buy them?  Explain to me what is wrong with this picture:

Harkins Theater's here in Arizona offer a "Souvenir Cup" (plastic) for $3.75 (which is the same price as large).  With this cup you get it refilled for $1 for each time you go to the movies for the entire year.  Or you can buy a Loyalty T-Shirt for like $20 and get free popcorn (1 per day) when you wear the t-shirt. In addition, free same-day refill on large popcorn or drink. B|

Many YouTube is getting hit pretty hard now with the things that are being uploaded. It's starting to get annoying now.

This is what happens when big companies like Google buy little companies like YouTube and then don't bother defending their DMCA rights.  The only way for YouTube to survive (and it will never be the same, by the way) is Google redefining it.  They would have to redo YouTube.  This is just like Napster.  Free music downloads, gets sued, turns into a popular music subscription service.  If Google could start getting licensed videos up there, with only limited ads, then they could keep some users who might otherwise become heretics.

Well said MetaMan, now we will have to look out for alternatives such as dailymotion.

The whole music/film industry thing irritates me. I understand why they do what they do. The way I see it, DRM is totally unneccessary, the industries need to rebuild themselves. There just as bad as the phone companies were when the internet started, they werent interested, now find a phone company that doesnt seel broadband.

Film and music companies need to move with the times, if they dont stop being so defensive they will see the industry taken away from them, they need to get on the offensive and make some good PR for themselves.

I stopped buying music quite sometime ago. I usually just copy someone else's CD into iTunes or download albums. Ill buy an album only if I know its going to be good or I have downloaded it and it blew me away. There are only two examples of this in the last year.

</end rant>

Google definitely needs to do something, because I continue to be less and less impressed with YouTube. It was much better before Google went and acquired it, but I'm still hoping that they will put a bunch of money into getting exclusive shows/movies to show on YouTube. They need to offer something that will set them apart from other services.

I agree. I know more people who buy songs than download them illegally, and it's not because of the RIAA it's just because they don't even know how to download them illegally. The RIAA is probably spending more money in lawsuits and fees than they are actually making.

I agree totally here. Prior to the acquisition, I was really into YouTube. After the acquisition, my use dropped off significantly.

Something about it changed.
