When I first started using Notepad++ I could have sworn that there was a version for Linux, but one of my friends set me straight after I told him to go download it (and he's a SUSE user).

Have any of you tried Notepad2?  I wouldn't recommend it for heavy coding, but I use it to make the occasional light edit.  It's almost as clean as the real Notepad, plus it has syntax highlighting.  It's perfect for just changing a couple of words or fixing a dead hyperlink.

I also thought there was a Linux version until I went looking for it. I found an interesting piece of information about that:

or try to port it yourself, their using MingW, which is gcc on Windows, so I guess you can easily port it.

Interesting. I might try that when I'm really bored. :)

I've tried it before, but I had already grown accustomed to Notepad++. I did also come across PSPad today when writing our Daily Downloads, and I'm going to check that out.

Glad I can present ideas for a boredom killer. :)

Okay Pieter, I was able to get Windows to be the default boot up now.  This makes things so much easier as I don't have to 'baby sit' my computer when I first turn it in on. Now for the second part, I tried booting from the Windows XP CD to run the recovery console.  However it asked me for an administrator password.  I haven't a clue what the heck that is and as far as I know never set one.  Is there any other way to get Ubuntu off?  I'll do a fresh install (how much space should I leave for Ubuntu anyway) off the CD.  Or is there a way to change/recover the administrator password?

Tonight has not been my night for passwords.  All my passwords at work expired tonight.  I had been putting of changing my Windows one even though every day for the past couple weeks it has been telling me it was about to expire.  Well it expired and suddenly I couldn't access half of my applications.  At least I was able to fix that my going ahead and changing my password via CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

Whoops, I should have mentioned that. :)

If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

It must not be blank then as it was telling me invalid.

That's weird. I don't have an Administrator account either, but I know there's some kind of default password that should work. - Another quick guess

I think you can pick the administrator password during the setup of the operating system, so think back as to what you might have picked when installing the OS.

Problem is I didn't install the OS.
