Run Multiple Sessions of Firefox?
« on: March 20, 2009, 06:00:08 PM »
Is it possible to run multiple sessions of Firefox (Firefox 3.0 and Firefox 3.5) at the same time? I thought it was possible with the portable versions. Can some one point me in the right direction here?

I don't think much has changes since the last time I wrote how to do this:

Actually I was able to run multiple normal versions simply by changing the short cuts and adding the -no-remote switch after the profile name.
    Firefox 2.0.0.20 | "C:\Program Files\Bon Echo\firefox.exe" -p "BonEcho" -no-remote
    Firefox 3.0.7 | "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 3\F irefox.exe" -p "Fx3-Clean" -no-remote
    Firefox 3.5beta4pre | "C:\Program Files\Minefield \Firefox.exe" -P "default" -no-remote

I can also run the portable version at the same time, but only if run it first.

I picked up an 8-GB PNY USB drive last night at Wal Mart for around $20. I have all my music all there along with several portable apps. Still I have about 1.5 GB free.

If you look at the instructions in the article I provided there is actually a configuration option in PortableFirefox where you can set it to ignore whether other instances of Firefox are running. So if you used that it wouldn't matter if the portable one was started first or last.
